723. Toppling Goliath Brewing Golden Nugget

Topling Goliath Golden NuggetSecond of three beers from Topling Goliath Brewing Company. Golden Nugget is their year round IPA brewed with Golden Promise malt and Nugget hops.

Appearance is what I expect from a single IPA, clean orange with a nice white head. Aroma has a nice mix of tropical, pine and floral hops, little bit of everything here. Taste leans towards the grassy, flower and onion hops. Everything is balanced out by a nice malt character and finished clean with only a light bitterness.

One of the better single IPAs I have tried in the past few months.
Pros:

Cons:
Alcohol Content: 6.0% ABV
IBU (Bitterness): 56
Rating:
Brewers Website: Toppling Goliath Brewing
Brewers Description: This spectacularly golden, medium bodied IPA was crafted from a winning combination of Golden Promise malt and Nugget hops.

Fall in love with the big hop aroma of our Golden Nugget as it mingles with fragrances of citrus and evergreen, followed by a floral sweetness. Tropical fruit flavors entice your taste buds before immediately captivating you with a bold, hop forward taste and a pleasant bitterness that lingers in the finish.

719. Toppling Goliath Brewing pseudoSue

Topling Goliath Pseudo SueThree of the next 9 beers I review here will be from Toppling Goliath Brewery in Decorah, Iowa. This is a new brewery to me but I picked up a few bottles in trades over the past few weeks and since they were all pales and IPAs I moved them to the top of my list of beer to drink.

pseudoSue appears to be their most popular beer and I can see why. This is a straight up hoppy pale ale; think Mo from Maine Beer Company or Edward from Hill Farmstead. Appearance is an unfiltered orange with a thin white head. Aroma has lots of tropical and citrus fruits. Taste follows but adds some piney hops and a mildly bitter finish. Overall an excellent beer and I bet it is even better at the brewery.

This one is worth seeking out if you have a trading partner in their distribution area or are taking a trip in that area.
Pros:
Lots and lots of hops
Cons:
Alcohol Content: 5.8% ABV
IBU (Bitterness): 50
Rating:
Brewers Website: Toppling Goliath Brewing
Brewers Description: This single hop pale ale showcases the Citra hop for a well balanced beer that is delicate in body with a mild bitterness in the finish.

She roars with ferocious aromas of grapefruit, citrus, mango and evergreen. pseudoSue’s unique and addictive taste is clean and bright with just enough bite!
