766. 603 Brewery Waterville Wheat Ale

603 Brewery Waterville WheatThe guys at 603 Brewery teamed up with Waterville Valley Resort for a beer and they came up with an easy drinking wheat ale. Our home office is located in Waterville, Maine so I picked up some to share.

The beer pours a hazy pale orange with a very thin white head that disappeared almost immediately. Nice mix of aroma; wheat, lemon and a bit of citrus. Flavor follows with a sweet start followed by the lemon zest and a slightly spicy finish from the corriander.

Quite a bit going on in this beer but it works well together to make a refreshing and clean beer. Not something I would drink regularly but will pickup when I see it.

582. 603 Brewery Cogway IPA

603 Cogway603 Brewery started selling one liter growlers at their new facility in Londonderry and I picked this one up before they actually started selling to the public. Unfortunately I stuck in the beer fridge and kind of forgot about it for a while. The good part is I tested the quality of their growlers. This was in the fridge for a month+ and when I did open it the beer poured as it was fresh that morning.

Appearance is a deep orange with a thick off white head. Aroma is light with a little pine and citrus but nothing to exciting in the nose. Taste was solid for a single IPA with a nice amount of piney and floral hops. The finish is pretty sweet but pleasant with little to no bitterness.

Overall this was a pretty solid IPA and may have been even better if I didn’t forget about the growler for several weeks.

502. 603 Brewery Summatime Ale

603 Brewery SummatimeI believe this is my fourth beer from 603 Brewery, really enjoyed the Winni Ale; 9th State was OK and White Peaks was my least favorite so far. Summatime is a pale ale that has a fairly high 6.3% ABV for a summer beer.

Appearance is great with a nice pale orange and two finger off white head. Aroma was fairly light with some citrus and spice, nothing too exciting but certainly pleasant. Overall flavor is about the same, enjoyable but no one thing stands out above the rest

603 is doing a nice job putting out quality beer. Looking forward to their stout.

464. 603 Brewery 9th State Red IPA

603 Red IPAThis is my third beer from 603 Brewery. I really enjoyed the first beer; Winni Ale but didn’t enjoy the White Peaks. This one falls somewhere in between as it was a decent beer but it seemed more like a red than an IPA.

Color is a deep red almost brown color with a single finger tan head. Aroma has some dark fruit, caramel and maybe a touch of citrus and pine hops. Flavor has a nice hop bite at the start but finishes with plenty of malt. Overall this is a good beer from a style (red IPA) that not many brewers are making.

458. 603 Brewery White Peaks

603 Brewery White PeaksAfter having Winni Ale from 603 Brewery and enjoying it I had high hopes for their next beers. I came across White Peaks and 9th State Red IPA at Top Shelf Brews in Hampton and grabbed a bottle of each. White Peaks is a white IPA which I believe should be a Belgian Witbier with a bigger hop profile.

This one looks like a regular IPA with a nice orange color and thin white head. Aroma is minimal with just a hint of hops. Taste is where I get confused as I am not getting any hop flavor and also not getting any Belgian yeast flavors. Overall this beer was not bad but not at all what I was expecting for a white IPA.

Cons:
Alcohol Content: 6.6% ABV

431. 603 Brewery Winni Ale

603 Brewery Winni AleI picked up this beer at the brewery on my way back from Vermont earlier this month. The guys at 603 Brewery were nice enough to stick around as I made the long trip back from Burlington on snowy roads but I made it and had a “sample” with the guys before heading for home.

Amber/Red Ales are usually a style of beer that doesn’t excite me too much. They all seem to be pretty similar with only a few that stand out. Fortunately for me Winni Ale from 603 Brewery is one that stands out. Appearance and aroma are typical of the style with a nice deep red color and off white head, smells of sweet malts and just hint of hops.

The taste starts like most Amber Ales with the sweet malts hitting the palate but hops quickly make an appearance with a nice light bitter finish. This is a really nice first effort for 603 Brewery and I look forward to more beer from them in the coming months and years.
Pros:
Very tasty amber ale
Cons:
Alcohol Content: 6.5% ABV

IBU (Bitterness): ??

Brewers Description: A clean amber ale with a subtle but noticeable hop character.
