A couple days after enjoying Night Shift’s Supernova I decided to open Somer Weisse. I was hoping for another great beer or at least something enjoyable and refreshing like their Ever Wiesse. What I got was an acidic mess that I couldn’t bring myself to finish.
The appearance and aroma were about what I expected, pale orange with minimal head and aroma dominated by lemongrass and ginger. Taste is where it falls apart; vinegar dominates with only a hint of lemon or ginger. I let it warm considerably hoping it would come around and it did not.
I hope this was an old bottle or something went wrong with the batch as I cannot see how anyone would drink this beer and enjoy it.

Brewers Description: Berliner Weisse style sour ale brewed with lemongrass and ginger
Its name honoring our Somerville homebrewing roots, Somer Weisse began as our answer to a hot July without air conditioning. A few twists on the classic Berliner Weisse style led us to this quencher of thirst. Refreshing and tart, it sprinkles the tongue with the zesty flavors of lemongrass, ginger, and, most importantly, summertime.
