710. 4 Hands Brewing Contact High

4 Hands Brewing Contact HighGot this beer as an extra in a trade and this is the first time I had heard of 4 Hands Brewing. Contact High is their summer seasonal beer and it works well for that but not much else. The artwork on the can was interesting and indicates they used orange zest in the beer. I like citrusy beers so I decided to open this before the other beers I got in the trade.

Contact High pours a pale orange color. Aroma is mild, very sweet and only slightly citrusy. Taste is heavy on the wheat and the citrus seems to come entirely from the zest and not from hops. Overall the beer felt thin even for a 5% ABV beer.

I realize this is a summer beer and meant to be light and refreshing but I still want something with more flavor like Maine Island Trail from Rising Tide or Bissell Brothers Baby Genius.

Cons: Too sweet
Alcohol Content: 5.0% ABV

Brewers Description: Not just another boring wheat ale. We made Contact High, our spring and summer seasonal, exciting by adding copious amounts of pacific northwest hops and dry hopping with fresh orange zest. Contact High pours a bright orange hue with a big citrus aroma.
