I don’t drink a lot of European beer as I tend to drink beer from breweries I work with or ones that I want to work with and my company is not expanding to Europe any time soon. This beer from Amager is actually a collaboration with Shaun Hill and the bottle was relatively inexpensive so I decided to give it a try.
No surprise that Black Nitro pours a deep brown almost black with a thick tan head. Aroma is almost entirely the dark roasted malts but some citrus does get sneak in. Taste was good with the citrus hops to start and then those dark malts take over with some coffee/chocolate.
The black IPA, Cascadian Dark Ale or whatever you want to call is simply a style I cannot get behind. The mix of those wonderful hops with the burnt flavors of the dark roasted malts just doesn’t work for me.
