605. Sixpoint Brewery Hi-Res
Not often that I but a 4 or 6-pack of a beer but I was convinced Hi-Res from Sixpoint was going to be an excellent beer and decided to grab a 4-pack at The Vault in Lewiston. Glad I did as I really enjoyed this big IPA, so much so the 4-pack was gone in two nights and that’s saying something since this beer is 11.1% ABV.
Hi-Res pours a deep orange color with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma was huge with lots of resinous hops, sweet malts and a touch of tropical, citrus. Taste was fairly well balanced with a sticky sweetness from the malts reeling the hops in a bit. The alcohol is definitely present and more apparent as the beer warms.
This beer leaves a thick film in your mouth as you would expect from a big hoppy beer. Overall this beer was well done and enjoyable after a long day of work.
