This is another limited release beer from Rising Tide. Calvera is their Ursa Minor stout aged on cherry puree in red wine barrels. I grabbed a couple bottles of this when it was released and have another sitting in my cellar for future consumption.
The appearance is all stout with a deep brown almost black color and thick tan head. Aroma has some wine, some cherry and some malt from the beer. Overall a nice beer that will make you want to drink it. Taste is quite complex with a nice mix of red wine, grape and all the character of a nice wheat stout. Towards the end you get a little cherry flavor, fresh not syrupy sweet.
Overall this is a nice beer but I am not big on cherry beers. If you enjoy cherries or even do not dislike cherries than you will enjoy Calvera.
