511. Samuel Adams LongShot Strawberry Lager
This is the second beer from the Samuel Adams LongShot Homebrew competition winners. Being a strawberry lager I was not expecting much as strawberry beer and lagers are not all that interesting to me.
The beer looks quite nice with a pale orange color and nice white head. It also leaves amazing lacing on the glass (see photo below). However the appearance of the beer is probably the least important part as the aroma, taste and finish are what make a good beer. Aroma is a sweet strawberry syrup mixed with beer, not very pleasant. Taste was much the same with plenty of fake strawberry flavor and not a lot else.
I did finish this beer so I gave it 2 stars but it is not something that I would care to drink again.
Cons: Fake strawberry aroma and taste
Alcohol Content: 5.5% ABV
IBU (Bitterness): ??
Brewers Website: Samuel Adams
Brewers Description: Dave wanted to created a refreshing summertime beer, something that he could enjoy after a round of golf on a hot day. This lager has a bright and fresh strawberry character balanced with toffee and citrus notes.
