I believe there is a big void in the craft beer market for truly sessionable beer. Some brewers are getting there with flavorful beer in the 4.5% ABV area but not many are doing anything under 4% and even fewer are daring enough to put out a 2.9% ABV beer like this one from Blue Lobster.
This beer is a Berlinerweisse made with apricot and kiwi. Sounds like odd ingredients for a beer but it works really well. Color is very light with a nice white head, leaving a fair amount of lacing on the glass. Aroma is tart and I have to be honest I don’t eat a lot of apricot or kiwi so I can only assume that it what I am smelling with this beer.
Taste is excellent with a very nice tart and very refreshing. I believe they finished this off at the brewery recently but I hope they bring it back for another round before the end of the Summer. If they do be sure to buy a couple of 750s or a 2 liter as it will go down very easy.
Pros: Very flavorful and easy to drink
Alcohol Content: 2.9% ABV
