This is the second beer from Lagunitas and so far I am impressed. I have a bottle of A Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ that I will review in the coming weeks. This is their double IPA which I believe is only bottled in bombers and I picked this one up at Bier Cellar in Portland.
Decided to have this one while enjoying an evening by the fire pit which was an excellent choice. Beer pours a clear orange with thin white head. Smell was a little subdued but that may have been because I was sitting by a fire outside, a bit of grapefruit and some pine notes. Taste follows the nose but is not overpowering like many double IPAs. Some citrus, pine and bready tastes but this is not a palate wrecker like many other big IPAs are. Finishes clean and quite refreshing for an 8% ABV beer. Enjoyed this one and certainly worth trying if you like this style of beer.
